Material Databases and Glass Catalogs in RayJack ONE®
For a realistic model of an optical system, you need to know material data not only of optical glass types, but also of many other inorganic and organic materials.
Possibly the most comprehensive data base of optical constants, used by lots of researchers, is Refractiveindex.info .
All 2851 data sets of this database are integrated into RayJack ONE® and will be updated with each software release.
The figure gives two representative examples: gold as a typical metal and polycarbonate as a typical plastic material, both tabulated over a wide spectral range.
In addition to RefractiveIndex.info, you can easily attach your own refractive index databases to RayJack ONE® or load glass catalogs from lens design programs.
Stay curious and don’t miss our upcoming posts which will give you a preview of RayJack ONE® 3.0, scheduled for end of January 2022.
