Modeling LEDs in RayJack ONE®
The design of LED-based illumination systems requires accurate data of the near-field radiation pattern of the #LED.
Many LED suppliers therefore offer so-called “ray files” for download, which have been obtained from near field goniophotometer measurements.
Ray files contain a large number of rays (often millions) that represent the near field of the LED.
RayJack ONE® can read ray files in “TXT” or in “DIS” binary formats, whose content is then converted into a Ray Jack ONE® light source.
Often it is also advisable to model the geometry of the LED, particularly if back-reflection of light towards the LED needs to be accounted for in the simulations.
In the current example both the ray file and CAD model of the OSLON SSL 120 LED were downloaded from Osram’s website and imported into RayJack ONE®.
