RayJackONE - Advanced Importance Sampling

Importance sampling is a powerful method to drastically speed up light scattering simulations. In importance sampling, the directions of scattered rays are restricted artificially, considering only rays pointing towards or away from certain target directions.

With the latest version 2.1.1 of RayJackONE you can assign Boolean combinations of target directions to a scattering object. For instance, you may demand that scattered rays are directed away from the image of the detector in a lens AND pass through the lens aperture.

The first two figures show the case when only one of these target directions is assigned; in the last figure the advanced importance sampling feature is used: practically all scattered rays now hit the detector, greatly enhancing ray-tracing efficiency.
